Tesco launched a carshare system at their two head offices in Hertfordshire in 2005. Since the systems launch almost 10% of employees have registered. They have together realised over 100 matched daily journeys resulting in an overall personal employee saving of over £150k. Using DfT estimates for the annual costs of parking spaces: £800 - £1200 (DfT Smarter Choices - 2004) We estimate that their system is saving an estimated £50,000 so far and the system is yet to reach its second anniversary.
